The Burton Panthers continued their 2024 Cross Country season this Saturday with a trip to Magnolia for the "Run the Dog Pound" Invitational.
The men ran first for the Panthers. They were led by Devlin Douglas (Jr.), who finished 18 out of 143 runners. He was followed by Zach Purvis (Fr.), Jackson Morey (Sr.), Cadeyn Manley (Jr.), and Mason Helton (So.).
The women ran next and represented Burton well. In a crowded field of 16 teams and 191 runners, the Panthers finished 5th overall as a team. Leading the way for Burton was Peyton Sigsbee (Sr.), who finished 2nd overall with a 2-mile time of 13:14 and earned a medal. Also earning a medal for the day was Reagan Roemer (Sr.), with a 12th-place finish and a 14:13 time. Rounding out the women's team were Avery Applewhite (Sr.), Madeline Dowling (Fr.), Abby Dowling (Jr.), Kara Landriault (So.), Kelsi Holt (Sr.), and Autumn Applewhite (Fr.).
The Panthers continue their season next Saturday at the Kardia Academy Invitational in Houston. The men will run first at 8:00 am.
