The Burton Panthers traveled to Milano today for the Eagle Invitational Powerlifting Meet.  Leading the charge for the Panthers were the dual freshman tag team of Zach Purvis and Andrew Gonzales.  Both men hit new personal records in all three of their lifts, finishing with totals of 730 and 690 respectively. Purvis finished 2nd and Gonzales 4th in the 123 weight class.  Not to be outdone, senior Mark Odom and junior Hunter Duffy dominated the 132 weight class with a 1st and 2nd place finish.  Odom finished with a 1030 total and Duffy hit a new total of 925.  Rounding out the boys were senior Kolton Lunbeck, whose 400 squat pushed him into the illustrious 1000-pound club and 4th place finish in the 165 weight class, and freshman Gunner Hightower, who set new records for all three lifts, finishing with an 845 total.

Representing the women once again was Senior Captain Avery Applewhite.  Applewhite moved her total to 600 pounds with a new record 200-pound squat.  This new total puts Applewhite 6th in Region 2 with less than two weeks left in the invitational season.  The top 12 lifters will advance to the Regional meet in Dublin, Tx.

Applewhite will head back to Brenham on Monday, February 10th for the Girl's Last Chance Qualifier.  The boys are out of action until February 19th.
