The District 26AA UIL Academic meet took place over two days last week on Wednesday, March 26, and Saturday, March 29th.  The Panthers competed in 23 events across multiple disciplines, and served as the culmination of weeks, if not months, of study and practice.  The Burton Panthers emerged victorious with a team total of 736 points, their highest-ever point total and only their second-ever district championship in Academics.  The Panthers qualified a total of 31 students for the Regional Academic Meet, again their highest number of advancing students.  The Panthers were led in scoring by Devlin Douglas (Jr.) with 50 points across four events, Samantha Angell (Sr.) with 49 points across six events, and Vivian Layman (Sr.) with 42 points across four events.  Burton will travel to Corpus Christi on Friday, April 25th and 26th, to compete in the Regional Academic Meet hosted by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
